Dangerous Corner

ABOUT THE PLAY

Set in England, in 1932, in the drawing room of the Chatfield country retreat, Robert and his wife, Freda are entertaining guests. A chance remark by one of the guests begins to unravel a series of crushing revelations and a tangle of private relationships and dark secrets for which the consequences could prove tragic.

J.B. Priestley veers away from the norm in the murder mystery genre as it becomes less about "whodunit" and more about "why-they-dun-it", which ends up being far more disturbing and ultimately satisfying.

Urinetown

ABOUT THE PLAY

Don't judge a play by its title.

A twenty year drought has crippled the city water supply and water is so scarce that the government enforces a ban on all public toilets. The citizens must now use the pay per use amenities owned and operated by the Urine Good Company (UGC), a private malevolent company. Any citizen who tries to circumvent the peeing fee risks being taken away to "Urinetown", a place where many have been sent, but no one ever returns. Urinetown is a hilarious tale of greed, corruption, love and revolution in a time where even water is worth its weight in gold.

The Tempest

ABOUT THE PLAY

Shakespeare's final play, The Tempest, is regarded by many as the crowning achievement of his career. Prospero, marooned on an enchanted island, takes the time to hone his magic and creates a storm that brings his enemies under his power. With the help of the sprite Ariel, he orchestrates their movements to demonstrate the hypocrisy of some and the innocence of others, and revenge becomes reconciliation.

Along the way there is magic and masques, romance and drunken humour, sprites and fairies and a half-human monster, and some of the most famous and oft-repeated of Shakespeare's many quotable lines.

The Cocktail Hour

ABOUT THE PLAY

John, a playwright, returns to his family's house with the new play he has written about them. He hopes to obtain permission to proceed with the production, but his wealthy, proper parents and sister are cautious from the outset. Their confrontation takes place during the ritual cocktail hour and as the martinis flow, so do the recriminations and revelations, both funny and poignant.
